Research at IRISA is structured into:
Seven scientific departments covering the entire spectrum of computer science, from computer and network architecture to artificial intelligence, software engineering, distributed systems and virtual reality.
Eight transversal themes that highlight and respond to major societal issues, which intrinsically carry strong potential for innovation. The idea of transversal themes is twofold: (a) foster synergy and critical mass on specific topics with active collaboration between teams in possibly separated departments; (b) emphasize application domains in which IRISA is actively involved with critical mass.
Five high-visibility experimentation platforms. Intended for our research teams primarily, the five technological platforms are dedicated to experimental research areas and allow the implementation of advanced techniques in their respective fields. They are instrumental in our research activities
