It is with great sadness that we inform you that Christian Barillot passed away this Sunday, June 14.

Research Director at CNRS, Christian was 60 years old. In addition to having been a leading international scientific personality, Christian played a major role at the CNRS where he has been, among other things, President of the Scientific Council of INS2I. He was also a figure within IRISA and the Inria centre where he was responsible for the neuro-imaging theme. He was director of EMPENN, Inserm research unit, scientific leader of the joint IRISA-Inria Empenn team, formerly VISAGES, and directed the "Neurinfo" medical imaging platform.

For all those who had the opportunity to work with him, we will remember his kindness and humour. He leaves the memory of a personality of great humanity, who paid particular attention to helping his young colleagues to fly on their own wings.

Our thoughts are with his wife and children in this ordeal.
