Congratulations to Corentin Jeudy, a PhD student working on an Orange thesis within the CAPSULE research team, who received the runner-up prize in the Gilles Kahn thesis award, presented by the French Computer Society (SIF) and sponsored by the Academy of Sciences. This award highlights young scientists whose thesis work represents a remarkable advance in the field of computer science.

His thesis, entitled ‘Design of Advanced Post-Quantum Signature Schemes’, also received a special mention for its ‘industrial relevance’.

Corentin's thesis work has a particular impact on use cases that are currently of concern to manufacturers and European institutions. These use cases address the issue of combining anonymity or respect for the privacy of online users with strong security (in the cryptographic sense) that can protect them.

Three use cases stand out in particular:
🔹 digital identity (through the European Commission's EUDI Wallet initiative)
🔹 digital currencies (notably the Tourbillon project and IBM's work on the subject)
🔹 trusted computing (through algorithms deployed today in billions of Intel processors and TPM chips) .

« Receiving this award is a real recognition of the work I did during my thesis. Post-quantum cryptography for privacy is a subject that is very close to my heart because it lies at the interface between fundamental research, concrete industrial applications, and current societal issues such as secure age verification that respects personal data online. Receiving this runner-up prize in the Gilles Kahn Award demonstrates the importance of these issues, which is extremely rewarding and encourages me to advance research in this field» - Corentin JEUDY
