The Best Paper Award was presented to Adel Aly (PhD student in the Shaman team in Lannion) and his thesis supervisors Oliver Pivert and Virginie Thion * at the 19th International Conference on Research Challenges in Information Science (RCIS 2025).

They were recognized for their article entitled “A Flexible Framework for Transposition-Aware Querying of a Musical Score Database.” It proposes a new method for querying musical score databases, with an experiment on the SKRID platform (a portal for traditional Breton music scores) maintained by IRISA and powered in collaboration with the Dastum association. Adel's work is funded by Lannion-Trégor Communauté and the University of Rennes.

With two degrees, one in computer engineering from Enssat and a master's in computer science with a specialization in computer science (SIF), Adel Aly is preparing a thesis at IRISA in Lannion, as part of the Shaman team. After publishing in an A-level conference [at The ACM Web Conference (WWW)], Adel won the Best Paper award at one of the leading conferences on information systems (RCIS).

Congratulations!

*Respectively Full professor and Assistant professor at the University of Rennes at ENSSAT in Lannion.
