As June draws to a close, IRISA reaffirms its position at the forefront of AI research, with several of its researchers presenting at the PEPR AI Days and the AI & Cybersecurity Workshop organized by the Cluster SequoIA.
PEPR IA Days - June 22-24
The PEPR AI invites the scientific community to the Couvent des Jacobins (Rennes) from June 22 to 24, 2026, for the second edition of the PEPR AI Days.
Focusing on the scientific challenges of artificial intelligence, the program aims to address issues of sustainability and ecological transition, societal impact, and technological sovereignty. This edition will feature, in particular, a review of the first nine projects supported by the PEPR IA, organized around three major themes: frugal and embedded AI, trustworthy and distributed AI, and the mathematical foundations of AI.
Several scientists from IRISA will be participating in this event:
Monday, June 22:
- Laetitia Chapel (professor at Institut Agro Rennes-Angers, head of the TAGADA team) – Presentation of the MacLeOD project
Tuesday, June 23:
- Nicolas Keriven (CNRS researcher, COMPACT team) - On Graph Coarsening and Graph Neural Networks
Wednesday, June 24 – Joint session of PEPR AI and the SequoIA Cluster on “AI and Security”:
- Erwan Le Merrer (Inria researcher, ARTISHAU team) - LLM fingerprinting and change auditing in the wild
- Virgile Dine (Inria PhD researcher, ARTISHAU team) - Machine unlearning
Another source of pride for the laboratory: Erwan Le Merrer is one of three IRISA researchers holding a chair within the SequoIA Cluster, alongside Paolo Robuffo Giordano and Sébastien Lefèvre. These high-level research chairs bring together leading institutions to address the major scientific challenges of AI and contribute to Brittany’s reputation as an international hub for reliable and secure AI research.
AI & Cybersecurity Workshop - June 25
Organized by the Cluster SequoIA and building on the PEPR AI Days, the AI & Cybersecurity Workshop on June 25, 2026, will feature a packed program: about fifteen presentations and a poster session bringing together nearly ten scientists. The goal is to take stock of the scientific and technological challenges at the intersection of AI and cybersecurity, focusing on three key areas:
- The robustness and security of AI systems against increasingly sophisticated attacks
- AI as a tool for cybersecurity: detection, analysis, and incident response
- New threats posed by AI to the security of digital systems.
Through presentations of recent research, the workshop will provide an overview of the state of the art on all these issues and will prioritize scientific discussion. Four researchers from IRISA will be presenting:
- Pierre-François Gimenez (Inria researcher, PIRAT team) - CasinoLimit: An Offensive Dataset Labeled with MITRE ATT&CK Techniques
- Romaric Gaudel (Assistant Professor, University of Rennes, MALT team) - Privacy-Utility Tradeoffs in Decentralized Learning via Correlated Noise
- Yufei Han (Inria researcher, PIRAT team) - LLM backdoor poisoning in the finetuning process
- Roderick Asselineau (Inria Ph.D. student, CAPSULE team) - Cryptanalytic Extraction of Deep Neural Networks
