It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Yves Bekkers, a university professor in computer science, on Thursday, October 8, 2020. He was 73 years old.
Researcher at Inria from 1975 to 1984, then Inria research director from 1984 to 1995, Yves Bekkers was on secondment at the University of Rennes 1 from 1993 to 1995, then professor at the University of Rennes 1 since 1995. Yves was one of the pillars of IRISA close to the founders such as Jean-Pierre Verjus and Laurent Trilling.
He was director of IFSIC (Institut de Formation Supérieure en Informatique et Communication, ancestor of ISTIC) from 1994 to 1999. He joined ESIR at its creation. Yves has been retired since 2014.
