Abstract
To make aerial robots more versatile, several research works have proposed embedding additional actuators. However, mass is a highly critical parameter for aerial robots. Adding actuators comes with a major drawback: reduced flight time. This presentation aims to introduce underactuated architectures of aerial robots that can take advantage of the environment as a source of extrinsic actuation.

Bio
Since November 2024, Dr. Arda Yigit has been a tenured researcher at CNRS (French National Centre for Scientific Research), in the LS2N laboratory in Nantes. Previously, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Robotics Laboratory of Laval University in Canada. He received his Ph.D. in Robotics in 2021 from the University of Strasbourg, France, where he carried out his thesis work at ICube-CNRS, for which he received an award. He obtained his engineering degree in Mechatronics and Robotics in 2018 from INSA Strasbourg and the University of Strasbourg, France.
He has published more than 15 papers in international journals and conferences. Recently, one of his papers was nominated for the IROS 2023 Best Industrial Robotics Research for Applications award. His current research interests include aerial robotics, parallel robotics, physical human–robot interaction, and underactuated mechanisms.
