History
The ReMIX project started in 2003 thanks to the ACI MD french initiative. It followed the RDISK project (see web site) by extending the concept on-the-fly filtering of huge amounts of data. On the RDISK machine, data are stored on a 48 reconfigurable disk node cluster. On ReMIX, the challenge was to promote other issues in order to investigate new alternatives for querying large databases.
Proposal
  • Build a large memory with reconfigurable capabilities
  • Develop a suitable programming environment
  • Investigate 3 application domains:
    • Genomics
    • Images
    • Text

See the complete proposal (in french).
