Victory is for those who can say "Victory is mine". Success is for those who can begin saying "I will succeed" and say "I have succeeded" in the end. Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK

Profile

I am currently affiliated with Technicolor Research & Innovation in France. Please contact me with my personal e-mail address.

Mehmet Türkan studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Eskisehir Osmangazi University, Eskisehir, Turkey. After getting his B.Sc. degree (with high honors) in 2004, he got his M.Sc. degree also in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Bilkent University, Ankara, Turkey, in 2007. He received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from INRIA, Rennes, France, under the supervision of Dr. Christine Guillemot.

He is the recipient of the Huawei Best Student Paper Award in the 2010 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP'10) with his publication and presentation titled as: "Image prediction: Template matching vs. Sparse approximation".

He is among the Best Student Paper Award nominees of the 2011 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing (ICIP'11) with his submission titled as: "Online dictionaries for image prediction".

During his studies at Bilkent University, he was involved in European Commission IST 6th Framework Program Multimedia Understanding through Semantics, Computation and Learning Network of Excellence (MUSCLE-NoE) and Integrated Three-Dimensional Television - Capture, Transmission, and Display Network of Excellence (3DTV-NoE) research projects.

Research Activities

His general research interests are in the area of signal processing with an emphasis on image and video processing/compression, pattern recognition/classification, and computer vision.
