Research Activities

My current research interests cover sparse representations and their application to image compression. Among others, I focus on the problem of dictionary learning and the design of efficient pursuit algorithms. My contributions place these problems within a general bayesian framework and exploit efficient statistical tools to solve them. In particular, we proposed new algorithms for dictionary learning and sparse representations based on the expectation-maximization algorithm and mean-field approximation.
