Abstract: Existing approaches to build mobile applications provide services dedicated to a particular type of applications and they are often embedded in the heart of the application functionalities. In this paper, we propose the utilization of a highly-adaptive framework which provides applications with a set of generic services as an abstraction of concepts usually utilized to manage mobility issues. The generic nature of the services allows their adaptation not only to the conditions of the environment but also to different applications. Further, mobility management is confined to the framework and thus isolated from the functionalities of the applications which make them easier to develop and to maintain.

Keywords: Wireless computing, mobile applications, adaptative systems, frameworks, generic approach.
