SUN Cluster
|
In October 2004, a 132 processors (33 biprocessor Opteron nodes) will be installed as part of the Grid'5000 infrastructure. HARDWARE This cluster is made of two racks, with 33 nodes in each rack. Nodes are Sun Fire V20z servers, with dual 2.2Ghz Opterons, and 1GB RAM. Two of the 66 nodes are used as head nodes (they have 2GB RAM), one of that run essential system services (eg: NIS, DHCP, ganglia, remote boot), the other is used for user daemons and for compiling. The cluster is online 24/7. LAN The nodes are connected with gigabit ethernet. The two racks communicate with stacked Cisco 3750 switches. WAN This cluster is connected to Grid5000 with a 10 Gigabit connection provided by Renater . SOFTWARE The nodes run on Linux Debian (testing), and will use Debian Sarge as soon as it is released. The cluster is used for interactive sessions (no batch scheduler). Load balancing is carried out using a shared calendar software developped in-house (GridPrems), that helps user to spread out on all available nodes.
