Development of an elastic map/reduce environment for multi‐cloud computing infrastructures

Overview

The work will be carried out in the framework of the RMAC activity on resource management in multi-cloud environments. This activity is part of the cloud computing research action line in the context of the EIT ICT Labs (http://eit.ictlabs.eu/). The  recruited  engineer  will  be  supervised  by  a  researcher  and  a  research  engineer  in  the Myriads team. The goal is to develop in open source an elastic map/reduce  environment  able to run on top of resources  provisioned  by  multiple  clouds.  The  developed  software,  Resilin,  will  provide  for private and community clouds features similar to the elastic map reduce environment offered by the Amazon EC2 public cloud. The  recruited  engineer  will  interact  with  European  partners  involved  in  the  RMAC  activity  in order to make Resilin interoperable with software developed by other partners. She/he  will  participate  in  the  meetings  organized  in  the  framework  of  the  RMAC  activity  to present  and promote  Resilin  software  and to investigate  possible  interoperability  issues  with other software.
