As a pillar of the French Cybersecurity Excellence Cluster based in Rennes (, the University of Rennes is opening an Assistant Professor Position (tenured) in Software Security for its IRISA lab (, with teaching in our newly open EIT Digital Cybersecurity Master (

Rennes is the Capital of Brittany, located close to the sea and 1 hour 25' West of Paris through a new dedicated High Speed Train line.
Economically attractive, Rennes has a growing research and higher education activity (63000 students, 5000 researchers), a vibrant cultural life and a widely acknowledged quality of life.

The recruited person will join one of the IRISA teams working in cybersecurity, such as CAIRN, CELTIC, CIDER, DIVERSE, DRUID, EMSEC, MYRIADS or TAMIS. The main research topics addressed by the teams involved in this area are the security of information systems including intrusion detection, cryptographic protocols, privacy protection, security of embedded and communicating security policies, database security or the security of distributed systems such as cloud computing, computing grids or peer-to-peer networks, security of micro-architecture and compilation.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in Software Security, a track record of international publications in leading conferences and journals, and motivation for and experience with teaching and student supervision.

Since teaching within the context of EIT Digital is fully in English, and the working language at IRISA is also English, it is not mandatory for the candidate to speak French. An excellent command of the English language is however required.
