EEWOK (Energy Efficient Wireless sensOr networKs ) is a proteiform platform regrouping very low energy sensor nodes. Depending on the application, it is available in several versions that integrate the same basic elements (low-power microcontroller and several sensors) to which are added important technological innovations (low-power FPGA, energy recovery, software radios, wake-up radio, etc.). These sensor nodes are thus deployed in networks of various scales (up to several hundred nodes for Smartsense).

Body

The robotics platform ROBSTAR labeled by the University of Rennes 1 consists of 6 platforms:

  • a robotic vision platform for validating research in visual servoing;

  • a mobile robotics platform used in particular to validate research in navigation by vision and driving assistance;

  • a medical robotics platform for work on needle insertion, elastography and improvement of the quality of ultrasound images;

  • a flotilla of indoor UAVs for research around patrol flight and control using vision;

  • an advanced handling robotics platform for validating work based on the capture or manipulation of objects;

  • a set of haptic interfaces including a joystick with force feedback or bracelets allowing a human to interact with previous robotic systems for robotics applications

Body

The two platforms Immersia and Immermove offer an immersive collaborative space called ImmerStar, intended for the regional scientific and industrial community, for national and international projects.

IMMERSIA is a 3D virtual reality platform which, thanks to its exceptional dimensions (10x3x3m wide), offers an environment for experimentation, particularly in the context of real-time and multi-modal interaction (vision, sound, haptics, brain-computer interface) between humans and virtual models.

IMMERMOVE is a technological platform dedicated to motion capture, extended by a virtual reality device. Installed at ENS Rennes on the Ker Lann campus in Bruz, it enables the capture of rapid movements (sports for example) or of a group of people to the millimeter, in order to study human behavior such as crowd-movement or sport gestures.

The current COVID-19 pandemic has forced many countries to take drastic measures to prevent and control the transmission of the virus from one individual to another. Among other things, monitoring the movement of people in order to keep potential infections under control.

In this regard, the Board of Informatics Europe* has decided to issue a policy recommendation statement on the use of tracking and surveillance technology to control the spread of COVID-19 infection.
