Environment and Ecology

Several current societal issues concern the environment and ecology. The objectives are extremely varied, such as predicting the dynamics of coastal systems or the transfer of pollutants to underground environments, or identifying the mechanisms of adaptation of a species to its environment. This very rich and interdisciplinary research work is based on close partnerships with other laboratories or industries specialized in the field of applications.

7 teams and 32 permanent staff have chosen to put their skills in modeling, bioinformatics, computer science and applied mathematics at the service of the Environment/Ecology topic, notably through four major societal challenges thus identified:

  • Preservation of biodiversity
    GENSCALE, DYLISS, OBELIX, DRUID, SHAMAN
  • Sustainable Resource Management
    LACODAM, GRANITE, SHAMAN, GENSCALE
  • Anthropic influence on the planet (pollution, global warming)
    OBELIX, GRANITE, DRUID, SHAMAN, GENSCALE
  • Landscape evolution
    LACODAM, OBELIX
