Les informations qui suivent sont données sans garantie de validité. Je les donnes car je me suis renseigné sur le sujet, et je me suis apperçu qu'il etait difficile de les trouver. Nombre de sociétés proposent de postuler pour vous moyennant finance, mais normalement la participation est gratuite. Il se peut que des informations soient erronées, même si j'ai fait de mon mieux alors je vous recommande de tout vérifier sur les sites internet du guvernement américain. Je donne des liens dans la section Getting official informations.

• De nombreuses companies offrent leurs services moyennant finance. Ils vous inscrivent et garantissent leurs services. Cependan, la US Federal Trade Commission préviens que des companies montent des arnaques pour vous soutirer de l'argent.
• Officiellement, le processus d'inscription à la lotterie est gratuit et vous pouvez vous inscrire en envoyant une simple lettre (voir ci-dessous). L'inscription doit être faite très proprement, car toute erreur commise peut vous disqualifier.

Quand s'inscrire?

En général, il y a une lotterie par an. Il y a des quotas de gagnats par regions du monde. Si vous gagnez, vous gagnez le droit de postuler à la carte verte, mais il faut faire les formalités a temps, ou vous perdez la carte verte, mais c'est une autre histoire.

• Les informations sur la lotterie sont en général publiées en août, et la période d'inscription est le mois d'octobre.

Comment s'inscrire?

Il suffit d'écrire. Il faut cependant que votre pays ne soit pas sur la liste des pays bannis (pour la liste de ces pays en mauvais termes avec les US il faut aller sur les sites officiels).
La lettre doit contenir une simple feuille blanche avec les informations suivantes, dans l'ordre et dans l'alphabet anglais:

1. Nom complet avec le nom de famille souligné
2. Date (Jour, Mois, An) et lieu de naissance (Ville, Province, Pays)
3. Pays de nationalité (si différent du lieu de naissance)
4. Nom, date et lieu de naissance eventuels du conjoint et des enfants
5. Adresse complète où envoyer les résultats
6. Photographie de moins de 6 mois, 37 par 37mm, nom écrit au dos, attaché avec du ruban adhésif
7. Signature

• L'enveloppe doit faire 15 à 25cm de long par 9 à 11cm de large (diviser par 2.6 pour avoir des pouces)
• Il faut mettre en haut à gauche le pays de naissance, suivi de votre nom et adresse dans cet ordre
• Envoyer le tout à l'adresse, en chosissant le ZIP en fonction de la région de votre nationalité.

• There are a number of private companies selling green card lottery service. They can file for you and guarantee their services. However, the US Federal Trade Commission warns that some companies use scams to get your money.
• Official subscription to the green card lottery is free and you can do it yourself by sending a simple letter (how is explained below). The subscription must be done very cleanly, since any error disqualifies the entry.

When is the lottery?

There is usually 1 lottery per year. There is a quota of winners per world regions. If you win, you win the right to apply to the green card, but you still have to do all the formalities on time or you loose the green card, but that's another story.

How to apply?

Just send a letter to the lottery. Your country must not be in the list of countries which are not allowed to participate (for the list of countries with such bad diplomatic relations see the US government web sites).
The letter must contain a plain sheet of paper with the following informations on it (in that order in english alphabet):

1. Full name with familly name underlined
2. Date (Day, month year) and place of birth (city, province, country)
3. Native country (if different)
4. Name, date and place of birth of spouse and children if any
5. Full address where to send notification
6. Photograph less than 6 months old, 37 by 37mm, with name printed on back, attached with TAPE
7. Signature

• The envelope must be 15 to 25cm long by 9 to 11cm wide (divide by 2.6 to get inches)
• The upper-left corner must indicate birth country, followed by name and full address in that order
• Send to the address below, but select the ZIP code depending on the country you belong to.

Now wait and hope. You only get a notification if you are chosen. Just a few notes: If you apply more than once for a given lottery, then you are disqualified. Only 1 ballot per person is authorized. However, if your spouse (resp. husband) applies, then you get 2 chances to win, since the win is for the whole family.

Getting official informations

The best way to get informations is to go on the official US goverement web-sites.

• To find official informations on how to apply, check The National Register Online on the US National Archives and Records Administration site, and search for "Green Card Lottery" or "Diversity Immigrant Visa Program" (DV-200*). The text indicates the minimum requirements (not belonging to some countries, having minimum high school education,...) which must be met to apply. You can also check wais.access.gpo.gov

Puedes que hay errores en lò que dice en mì informaciònes aquì ò que hay cambiòs. Para los verificaciònes, tienes que ir a los pajinas officialès del governemento de los Estados Unidos (INS ò un consulate americano por examplo). Las informaciones en español son pequenas porque yo no hablò mucho español.

Para participar, necessitas que escribir al Governemento de los Estados Unidos en octubre usualemente (una inscripciòn per persona), a este adressa:

Necessitas que remplacar el ZIPCODE con el correcto numero para su país de nacimiento (00211 para america de sud). Utilisar una envelopa dentre 15x9cm à 25x11cm, escribir su nationalidad, su nombre y su adressa.
En la enveloppa, pone une papele con:

Nombre (el nombre de familia soulignado)
Dià y locaciòn de nacimiento (ciudad, región y país)
