Optical Networking Based on Multi-Band Optical OFDM at Ultra-High Bit Rates

The foreseen increase of traffic in future optical
networks opens the question of the evolution of today's
optical networks. Among the candidate solutions that will
enable higher channel bit rates Optical Orthogonal
Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) offers an
interesting flexibility when implemented in multi-bands.
After a presentation of the networks and technologies
evolution context, we analyze the potential flexibilities
offered by optical multi-band OFDM.
