Short biography

I received my PhD from University of Paris 6 in 2004. During my PhD, I was member of the INRIA project REGAL (REpartition et Gestion d’Applications à Large échelle) on Resources management in large scale distributed systems. Then I was member of the LRI and the INRIA project Grand Large during one year. I am an associate professor at the INSA of Rennes since september 2005.

Research interests

Peer to peer, distributed systems, sensor network

  • Distributed algorithms
  • Consistency Models/Protocols
  • Failure detection
  • Building overlay networks
  • Communication in sensor network

Current research activities

Resource  management in P2P systems:

  • Multi peer to peer overlay network

Sensor networks

  • Topology and power management
  • Data propagation
  • Data aggregation

Former research activities

Failure detection

  • GFD (Grid Failure Detection): GFD is an adaptable failure detection service optimized for large scale systems. The first caracteristic of this service are to be able to adapt its behaviour according to the current state of network and to applications’ needs. The second one is the hierarchical organization which reduces its induced load and allows its use on a great number of nodes.
  • DARX (Dynamic Agent Replication eXtension): DARX is a framework for building applications that provide adaptive fault tolerance.

Mutual Exclusion

  • Hierarchical token based mutual exclusion algorithms. These algorithms are extensions of the Naimi-Trehel’s token algorithm, reducing the cost of latency and the number of messages exchanges between far hosts.

Teaching

I am assistant professor at INSA Rennes in the computer science department.

  • 1st year

    • Functional programming in Scheme
  • 4th year

    • Operating System
    • Object-Oriented Programming and Design (UML)
  • 5th year

    • Parallel Programming.
