Short biography

I am currently doing PhD under supervision of Dr. Aline Carneiro Viana and my Thesis Director is Prof. Serge Fdida. I am collaborating my PhD research work with Hicham Khalife. I did my Research Internship under the supervision of Dr. Aline Carneiro Viana  to fulfil my Degree of Master by Research in Networks and Telecommunications from L2S, Laboratory of Signals and Systems, Supelec and University of Paris Sud-11. Apart from it, I am also doing M.Sc Degree in Geographical Information Systems from LUNDS Universitet, Sweden. I obtained my B.E. (Bachelors of Engineering) Degree from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan in 2004. The subject of my Thesis was "Geographical Information System as a Decision Making Tool".

Research interests

  • Cognitive Radio Networks.
  • Delay Tolerant Networks.
  • Opportunistic Networks.
  • Self-Organizing Networks (MANETs, WSNs).
  • Geographical Information Systems (GIS).

Current research activities

I am focusing on communication paradigms in cognitive radio networks and my research encompasses the following themes:
  • Dynamic Channel Selection in Cognitive Radio Networks.
  • Reliable and Contention-aware Data Dissemination in Multi-hop Cognitive Radio Networks.
  • Broadcasting Strategies in Multi-hop Cognitive Radio Networks.
  • Common Control Channel Design Problems in Multi-hop Cognitive Radio Networks.

Former research activities

I worked under direct supervision of Dr. Aline Carneiro Viana and I also collaborated my Research Work with Artur Ziviani, and Roy Friedman .

I worked on Self-Organized Data Aggregation in Mobile Sink Wireless Sensor Networks. My research focused on the principles underlying the design of data aggregation mechanisms in WSNs with mobile sinks. Our main goal here was: (1) to extend network lifetime and to evenly spread the load over the network by aggregating collected data in some selected storage motes, and (2) to improve data availability by replicating aggregated data in some closer to selected storage motes.
