Position description
Wireless Sensor Networks are becoming a major research topic combining multi-disciplinary domains
such as network engineering, signal processing, software engineering and embedded computing. This
field will play an important role in the next years evolution of computer science.
SensLab and SensTools are respectively a RNRT project and an INRIA's ADT which aim to set up and
support a very large scale open wireless sensor network platform distributed through 4 French sites
(Grenoble, Lille, Rennes et Strasbourg). SensLAB's main and most important goal is to offer an
accurate and efficient scientific tool to help in the design, development, tuning, and experimentation of
real large-scale sensor network applications.
Senslab's node design allows among other high possibilities of node behaviours monitoring, many
facilities to deploy code and liberty on the choice of the communication protocol to use.
The R&D engineer will take place within the ASAP research group of the INRIA Rennes Bretagne
Atlantique for a period of 18 months. The field of the ASAP (As Scalable As Possible) team covers the
foundations of the large scale dynamic distributed system. One of the research topics is to adapt peer to
peer algorithms to wireless sensor network.
The engineer will be responsible of the hardware and software deployment, the maintenance and the
evolution of the Senslab testbed located at Rennes. The operations will be done closely with the others
sites.
