IRISA (Institut de Recherche en Informatique et Systèmes Aléatoires), created in 1975, is a joint research unit (UMR 6074), including CNRS, University of Rennes 1 (main partner), INSA Rennes and ENS Cachan (Brittany site).
IRISA, laboratory associated with INRIA, has numerous common teams with INRIA Rennes – Bretagne Atlantique research center. IRISA also has a common team with INSERM (Visages unit).
IRISA is highly integrated in the Brittany’s research landscape (Media and networks cluster, Ouest-Génopole, PRES UEB). It participates in an important number of projects funded by the National Research Agency (ANR) as well as to numerous European projects. Significant collaborations have been put in place with the industrial world, big groups and SMEs, and several start-ups have been created from IRISA research activities.
Through its professors-researchers and its researchers, IRISA contributes to training provided by Rennes 1 (IFSIC), INSA Rennes (IT Department), ENS Cachan (Brittany site, IT department), as well as contributing to other structures.
Thus, IRISA accomplishes all its missions, scientific, technology transfer and development, training in and by the research activities.
